Edelmann is perhaps the most important composer at his time active in Paris and Strassbourg.
Mozart liked his music in particular (we know it from a letter).
He was beheaded together with his brother during the reign of terror in their home-town Strassbourg due to their political thoughts!
His lyrical and beautiful music was composed in the ''Golden age of the historical keyboards'' a time in which the harpsichord, clavichord and fortepiano plus several other kinds of other keyboards mostly available in our museum co-existed and created a harmonic garden.
We have dedicated a full project so that various talented Fortepianists and Harpsichordists can explore Edelmann's music on various keyboards and we share and document those special moments with you.
We need your support.
