Improvisation is a technique that is directly linked not only to knowledge of harmony but also taste, creativity and understanding of style and above all inspiration. So it is a big subject that involves all these and is indeed one of the subjects of our Museum Academy.
Most of our music educators did not emphaseize on this issue when we were young and later we got used to play the written notes. Most musicians neither pay attention to the instrument of choice nor to the necessity of historically informed performance practice which not only states the particular kinds of articulation, gesture, rhetoric and other stylistic issues but also aks us to play something for fermatas, cadenzas but also embalish the repeated phrases stylistically.
